Understanding Examplify Login: Two Different Systems
There are actually two places you log into with ExamSoft, and confusing them is the #1 cause of login issues:
- The ExamSoft Student Portal (web browser) — where you view results and access your account online
- The Examplify App (on your computer) — where you download and take your actual exams
Both require your institution ID and your school credentials, but they operate separately. A problem in one doesn’t necessarily affect the other.
Examplify Login Problem #1: “Invalid Institution ID”
Cause: You’re entering the wrong institution ID code.
Fix: Your institution ID is provided by your school — check your welcome email, syllabus, or Canvas/Blackboard announcement. Common examples: “chamberlain” for Chamberlain University, “wcu” for West Coast University, “drexel” for Drexel. If you can’t find it, contact your school’s nursing technology coordinator or ExamSoft administrator.
Examplify Login Problem #2: “Incorrect Username or Password”
Cause: Password mismatch between your school credentials and ExamSoft portal.
Fix: Go to your school’s ExamSoft portal in a browser (examsoft.com → enter institution ID → “Forgot Password”). Reset your password there. Then use the new password in the Examplify app. Note: your ExamSoft password may be different from your general school portal password.
Examplify Login Problem #3: “Account Not Activated” or “No Invitation Email”
Cause: Your school hasn’t added you to ExamSoft yet, or the invitation email went to spam.
Fix: Check your spam/junk folder for an email from ExamSoft or your school. If no email exists, contact your ExamSoft administrator (usually a faculty member or academic technology coordinator). They need to manually add you to the system before you can log in.
Examplify Login Problem #4: App Opens But Shows No Exams
Cause: Exams haven’t been released yet, or the app isn’t syncing.
Fix: Click “Refresh Exam List” at the bottom of the Examplify dashboard. Make sure you have internet access. If your exam should be available and isn’t, contact your instructor — they need to release the exam in the ExamSoft faculty portal.
Examplify Login Problem #5: “Examplify Won’t Open” / App Crashes on Launch
Cause: Corrupted installation, outdated version, or conflicting software.
Fix:
- Uninstall Examplify completely and re-download the latest version from the ExamSoft portal
- Disable antivirus software temporarily and try launching again
- On Mac: check Privacy & Security settings for Examplify permissions
- On Windows: right-click Examplify and select “Run as Administrator”
- Restart your computer and try again
Examplify Login Problem #6: Returning Student with a New School
Cause: You used Examplify at a previous institution and now need to add a new account.
Fix: In the Examplify app, click “Add New Account” and enter your new institution ID. You can have multiple school accounts in one Examplify installation — just switch between them in the account menu.
Examplify Login Problem #7: ExamSoft Says Your Browser Is Unsupported
Cause: You’re using Safari, Edge, or another browser for the ExamSoft portal.
Fix: ExamSoft’s student portal works best with Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox. Switch browsers and try again.
