The Examplify mock exam is one of the most important steps every nursing student should complete before their first real ExamSoft proctored assessment. This tutorial walks you through finding, downloading, and taking the Examplify mock exam — and what to do when it doesn’t work.
What Is the Examplify Mock Exam?
The Examplify mock exam is a practice test that simulates the real exam experience without counting toward your grade. It lets you test that Examplify is installed correctly on your device, that your webcam and microphone work (if ExamMonitor is enabled), that the lockdown environment functions properly, and that you know how to submit an exam. ExamSoft and virtually every nursing school strongly recommend taking the mock exam at least once before your first real exam.
How to Find and Take the Examplify Mock Exam
Step 1: Open Examplify
Launch the Examplify app on your computer. Make sure you’re logged in with your institution account.
Step 2: Find the Mock Exam in Your Exam List
After logging in, look at your available exams on the Examplify dashboard. The mock exam is usually labeled “Mock Exam,” “Practice Exam,” or “Student Practice” depending on your institution. If you don’t see it, click “Refresh Exam List” at the bottom of the dashboard.
Step 3: Download the Mock Exam
Click the download arrow next to the mock exam. Make sure you have internet access for this step. The exam file will download and store locally on your device.
Step 4: Enter the Mock Exam Password
To launch the mock exam, you’ll need a password. Common mock exam passwords include:
- password1 — the most common default across many schools
- Fall25 or Spring26 — semester-specific passwords (check your school’s communication)
- Your specific school’s password — check your Canvas/Blackboard course announcements or email from your instructor
Step 5: Complete the Mock Exam
Answer the sample questions. Navigate between questions using the arrows. Practice flagging questions for review. Test any attachments if your real exam will have them. When finished, click Submit.
Step 6: Upload the Mock Exam
After submitting, Examplify will upload the mock exam to ExamSoft’s servers. This tests your internet connection and upload process. A successful upload confirms your setup is working correctly for exam day.
Mock Exam Problems & Fixes
“I can’t find the Mock Exam in Examplify”
Click “Refresh Exam List.” If still not visible, your school’s ExamSoft administrator needs to release the mock exam to your account. Contact your nursing program’s technology coordinator.
“The mock exam password doesn’t work”
Try “password1” first (lowercase, no spaces). If that doesn’t work, check your course syllabus, Canvas announcements, or email from your instructor for the correct password. Contact your instructor directly if you can’t find it.
“Mock exam failed to upload”
Check your internet connection. Retry by reopening Examplify — it will attempt to re-upload automatically. The mock exam upload failure won’t affect your grade, but it’s a warning sign to fix your connection before your real exam.
What If ExamMonitor Is Enabled on My Mock Exam?
Some schools enable ExamMonitor on the mock exam so students can practice with webcam monitoring. If prompted for camera and microphone access, click Allow. This is a perfect opportunity to check your webcam angle, lighting, and background before your real exam.
